Description

よ〜 みんなさん!久しぶりだね。

This is probably the first new submission in almost a year?
It's scary ain't it.. time flies by without you even realising it till it's almost too late. Still, better late than never eh? :)

Honestly, I'm happy with this. Only this isn't the sort of personal art I was hoping to post. This was done for my Japanese Class as a class T-shirt. (Just added a BG with text so it'd look more polished for posting.)
The style is heavily referenced off the Japanese Drum game, Taiko no tatsujin, as it's background's pretty traditional.

Anyone who's interested about the illustration, here's a 'little' background. It's basically the write up I submitted, copied and pasted here for your reading pleasure.
For those who do not wish to read any further, thank you for checking this out and do leave a comment or critic it.

There was a mascot design for the school and I thought I'd give it a shot. As part of the submission deliverables, we were required to write something about the design/mascot.

" The characters are based on both modern and traditional Japanese art forms. Oriental brush strokes with bright cell shaded colouring.
The 2 characters I had chosen to work on are a Cat and a Koi Fish. Naturally Cats and Fishes do not interact, so I thought putting 2 characters from different worlds would somehow signify the mix of races learning Japanese Culture from the Teachers who came from beyond our shores.

1. Neko (name is not fixed), is a calligrapher/Painter. He carries a huge brush that’s easily twice his height. He loves writing calligraphy and is able to paint beautiful scenic views. Being a hyper, cheerful young cat, he yearns to learn much from people and places he goes to, especially from his partner, Sakana.

2. Sakana (name is not fixed), is a 120 year old (that’s why he’s enormous), silver with red patterns Koi fish. He once lived with a family who practiced Kabuki Theater Arts and has been trained in many types of performing arts. He’s light-hearted, patient and wise and often passes down knowledge to younger ones, especially Neko. Sakana represents the traditional values, arts and knowledge of Japan.

So when my classmates saw my submission, they thought it'd be a great idea to make it into a class T-shirt. :)
It was awesome, since I was finally able to try printing T-shirts with a custom design. (* *)

If you read through my write up, CONGRATULATIONS.
KNOW LEMME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. KTHXBAI! :headbang:
